Join your professional peers in our three-day intense training course to develop CQ and the intercultural competence for leading effectively in the global business environment. Success in this context requires being able to balance multiple perspectives and manage high levels of complexity and unpredictability, in order to effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate across cultures.

The course explores the elements of culture that may explain how and why individuals behave and communicate in potentially unfamiliar ways. Participants gain insights into their personal intercultural competence, examine how cultural norms shape individuals, and develop personal strategies for identifying cultural biases and assumptions.  The course also provides a framework for understanding and operating in micro-cultures such as those that exist within organisations.

Setting
Organisations want to hire individuals with high Cultural Intelligence (CQ) because these individuals are better decision makers, negotiators, networkers, and leaders for today’s globalised world. Of the companies that used the CQ approach through training, hiring, and strategising, 92% saw increased revenue within eighteen months of implementation. Every company named CQ as a significant factor that contributed to increased profits. Therefore, companies are prioritising hiring and retaining personnel with high CQ. Individuals with higher levels of CQ report a greater level of enjoyment and satisfaction from intercultural work and relationships than those with lower levels of CQ.  (Source D. Livermore).

Objective
The program aims to develop the Cultural Intelligence (CQ) and the Intercultural Competence to be able to implement effective reconciliation strategies and culturally effective work and management practices to resolve cultural dilemmas and ultimately enhance intercultural interactions.

Day 1 (Mapping)

  • – Positioning CQ and developing intercultural competence
  • – Understanding multiple perspective taking and applying critical thinking skills
  • – Cultural awareness fundamentals
  • – Identify specific situations where conflicts or challenges may occur

– cultural value orientations (benchmark across cultures)
– cultural challenges, experiences and expectations


Day two (Bridging)

  • – Building on cultural know-how to understand differences in behaviour and styles (Mapping)
  • – Practicing skills to improve the intercultural and interpersonal communication (Bridging)

self-assessments:
– cultural preferences for eight different work practices (benchmark across cultures)
– communication style preference (benchmark across cultures)

Day three (Integrating)

  • – Developing strategies to reconcile cultural differences
  • – Explore work and management practices to enhance communication and collaboration.
  • – Action Planning to develop Intercultural competences for effective intercultural interactions.

Three-day, face-to-face training course in a professional environment.
Course starts at 9.00 AM for a 4.30 PM. finish.

Pre-course Information-sourcing
Participants are asked to complete two pre-work activities (instructions for these activities via email after registration).

1. Participants self-assess Intercultural Competences to measure their readiness for dealing effectively with culturally diverse situations: participants receive their (confidential) personal profile. During the course participants will engage in action planning to improve specific intercultural competences.

2. Participants complete a Training Needs Analysis to collect information about their challenges, concerns, experiences and specific needs.

Cost
